Job Overview

We are offering a €500 sign-on bonus for a part-time Afterschool Childcare Assistant position in Ballynerrin, County Wicklow, starting from 26th August 2026, aligned with the 2026/2027 school term. This role guarantees a minimum of 10 hours weekly, with potential hours typically ranging between 20 and 25 per week. The pay rate is €15.00 per hour initially, increasing to €15.75 per hour from 1st October 2026.

Role Location

The role is based at Wicklow ETNS, Wicklow Town, servicing Ashford and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibilities

  • Facilitating a smooth transition for children post-school and helping them settle into a welcoming afternoon environment.
  • Offering homework support in a calm, structured setting.
  • Organizing and engaging in activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, imaginative and outdoor play.
  • Promoting children's social, emotional, physical, and creative growth.
  • Fostering positive relationships with children, their families, and colleagues.
  • Assisting with daily service operations.
  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all children.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable.
  • A positive, dependable, and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sincere interest in child development and support.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Possession of a full driving license is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Preparedness to complete Garda Vetting and reference verifications.

Additional Information
