Role overview
The part-time Administrative Director is accountable for guiding the business and operational work of a small-to-medium department, unit, or business function. The role focuses on setting short- and long-term objectives that align with the Mount Sinai Health System, while also ensuring adherence to relevant federal, state, and city regulations.
Responsibilities
- Guide the creation, interpretation, and execution of current and future policies, procedures, and programs.
- Set department objectives that align with MSMC policies and applicable federal, state, and local rules.
- Partner with the department vice president, chair, or head to shape both near-term and long-range plans.
- Apply and explain policies related to hiring, payroll, appointments, promotions, placement, and onboarding of faculty and/or staff.
- Review and approve reclassifications, new roles, and pay increases, and oversee the performance appraisal process for faculty, professional staff, and biweekly employees.
- Supervise management staff to ensure established practices are followed, new policies are rolled out, and employees stay informed about updates and standards.
- Maintain compliance with safety, insurance, and ethical requirements affecting patients, employees, and property, and develop contingency plans for possible risks.
- Promote cooperation across divisions to support operational execution and strong communication between functional areas.
- Prepare budget requirements by evaluating short- and long-term program plans, and may work with the Finance Director to complete the annual budget and monitor financial performance.
- Ensure the department has the financial systems needed to operate effectively and remains compliant with MS Health System policies and procedures.
- Implement quality assurance initiatives and oversee monitoring efforts to meet standards set by accrediting bodies such as JCAHO, CARF, and New York State and City Department of Health.
- Chair departmental committees and take part in hospital committees when assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, along with relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare finance or administration.
- Background in strategic planning and execution, policy development, financial planning, resource management, and team leadership.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $48.8235 to $73.2352. Final compensation may vary based on experience, education, and operational needs. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
