Job description

Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Team Lead. This is a fixed-term role lasting one year within the Finance Shared Service Centre supporting accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices for entities managed by the centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices daily to ensure timely payments.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of creditor statements accurately.
  • Resolve supplier inquiries promptly to maintain smooth vendor relations.
  • Develop and nurture positive working relationships with suppliers, team members and colleagues.
  • Generate monthly reports including aged creditor summaries, late payment analysis, and Accounts Payable KPIs, sharing these insights with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements and initiatives to streamline the Accounts Payable function within the FSSC.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Accounts Payable Team Lead.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable environment; prior Shared Services exposure is favourable.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capabilities ensuring precision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail producing high-quality output.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with the SUN accounting software is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Ability to learn swiftly and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated with a track record of meeting deadlines collaboratively within a team.
  • Organised and solution-focused, capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Demonstrates perseverance and commitment to completing objectives thoroughly.
  • Maintains a strong internal control mindset and confidently challenges processes when needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and relationship building.
  • An interest in horse racing is beneficial but not essential.
