About the Role

Join the Corporate Finance Team at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and contribute towards advancing employment and employability for workers. In this role, you will provide crucial support to the sub-department under the supervision of the Deputy Director. Your responsibilities will ensure seamless finance operations including day-to-day transactions, month-end, and year-end closings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts by reviewing journals, accruals, provisions, and reallocations.
  • Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities promptly adhering to accounting standards and internal deadlines.
  • Document and maintain thorough audit trails for all ledger entries and adjustments.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and promptly address discrepancies.
  • Monitor cash flow including bank balances and transactions ensuring precise posting and record-keeping.
  • Manage bank mandates - account setups, closures, signatory changes, and documentation for audits and compliance.
  • Oversee internal approval processes for bank mandates ensuring adherence to governance policies.
  • Act as liaison with banking institutions and stakeholders on bank-related administration and operational matters.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports, including variance analyses and explanatory notes, for management and board presentations.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for statutory reporting and audit submissions.
  • Support GST and corporate tax return preparation, maintain related schedules and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Handle corporate tax computations and communicate with tax agents and auditors on tax matters.
  • Manage audit coordination independently, including statutory audits and internal/external financial audit queries.
  • Contribute to the development and update of finance policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in system improvement projects including SAP S/4HANA upgrades and strengthen internal controls for greater operational efficiency.
  • Provide accounting guidance and support to internal teams and external parties.
  • Mentor team members by sharing knowledge and offering assistance as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Accountancy or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • At least five years of pertinent accounting experience, preferably in a public sector setting.
  • Hands-on experience in general ledger management, audits, bank reconciliation, GST, and corporate tax.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4 accounting systems considered an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Ability to operate effectively within structured governance and administrative frameworks, with a practical compliance approach and focus on delivering results.
  • Exceptional listening skills for effective information gathering and proactive follow-up.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude with keen attention to financial details.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced time management capabilities to juggle priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient written communication ensuring clarity and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ethical integrity and professionalism.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
