Role Overview
The role centers on supporting the growth and success of small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Australia by becoming a trusted partner and advisor. The Account Manager will establish and nurture relationships with SMB clients, understand their unique challenges, and tailor Square’s suite of products to meet their business needs. The position includes high-energy client outreach, consultative communication, and business coaching aimed at maximizing product adoption and driving business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of SMB clients by helping them leverage Square’s tools to improve their business outcomes.
- Serve as the primary advocate for merchants within Square, ensuring their feedback influences product development and service delivery.
- Develop trusted relationships with key clients while maintaining strong consultative connections with the wider portfolio.
- Identify opportunities for product upsell and encourage the adoption of new features through value-driven recommendations.
- Balance proactive client outreach with retention and growth initiatives through effective time management and organization.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product, and Support to create tailored solutions for merchants.
- Achieve clear growth and retention targets, demonstrating tangible results from client partnerships.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in account management, sales, or consultative roles.
- Strong customer-first and consultative approach with a passion for supporting SMB success.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage high-volume client interactions with meaningful follow-ups.
- Effective communication skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts during client engagements.
- Sound commercial understanding of small business drivers and how Square’s solutions can foster growth.
- Growth-oriented mindset keen on continuous learning and innovation.
- Proven record of delivering measurable client outcomes, fostering adoption, and being a trusted advisor.
