Responsibilities
- Deliver administrative and litigation support to attorneys working on medical malpractice defense matters
- Prepare, format, review, and polish legal paperwork such as pleadings, discovery materials, correspondence, and subpoenas
- Organize and maintain case records, medical documentation, and both paper and digital discovery systems
- Request, monitor, and file medical records, billing statements, and expert materials
- Help coordinate preparations for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Manage attorney schedules, court dates, hearing calendars, and other appointments
- Communicate with clients, healthcare providers, opposing counsel, and court staff when necessary
- Keep case-tracking tools current and ensure all deadlines are met
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working as a legal assistant
- Background in a defense-side law firm, with medical malpractice experience preferred
- Working knowledge of both federal and state filing processes
- High school diploma required
- Strong command of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Paralegal certification and billing capability are preferred
