Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance and repair work on a range of council fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Work closely with a knowledgeable team of technicians and supervisors.
  • Keep precise maintenance records while adhering to workshop protocols.
  • Promote and ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Trade qualification in automotive mechanics or small engines/plant mechanics.
  • Flexibility and eagerness to work with different types of assets.
  • Effective communication and strong teamwork abilities.
  • Dedication to performing tasks thoroughly and correctly every time.

Employment Benefits and Conditions

  • Hourly wage starting at $46.20 plus superannuation.
  • 9-day fortnight work schedule, with every second weekend providing a long weekend.
  • Four weeks of annual leave with a 17.5% loading to increase holiday pay.
  • Additional allowances, penalty rates, and 12.5% superannuation contributions.
  • Fully equipped modern workshop including provided and laundered uniforms and PPE.
  • Standard Monday to Friday daytime hours, with some public holiday work.

Candidate Profile

  • Mechanical trade qualification relevant to the vehicle category.
  • Current driver's license suitable to your trade, at minimum C class.
  • Construction Induction Card or ability to obtain one.
  • Proven experience working within mechanical environments.
  • Aligns with core organizational values: safety and wellbeing, communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership.
  • Experience with commercial mowing equipment is an advantage.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Successful completion of pre-employment medical testing including drug and alcohol screening.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
