Overview
The Pre-Award Senior Specialist will collaborate closely with faculty members, Principal Investigators, and Department Administrators to provide essential pre-award grants administration services. This role's objective is ensuring efficient and compliant management of internal and external sponsored research projects, related contracts, and legal considerations.
Key Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely grant applications supporting various research departments and initiatives at Khalifa University.
- Assist faculty and support personnel in proposal development, including budget creation and justification, guaranteeing compliance with all pre-award requirements aligned with federal, state, university, and sponsored research protocols before proposal submissions.
- Review and discuss grant account statuses with faculty, recommend necessary modifications, and follow up on changes.
- Validate completeness and precision of proposal submissions.
- Review funding agency standards and deadlines and coordinate with relevant teams to set proposal submission timelines.
- Collaborate directly with Principal Investigators and administrators to submit proposals on time and according to stipulated guidelines for a range of funding sources including industrial, federal, state, local, and foundations.
- Develop budget frameworks tailored to project requirements and expectations.
- Lead preparation of extensive, multidisciplinary, and multi-institutional proposals, working with external collaborators during submission stages.
- Support Principal Investigators in identifying potential funding sources alongside the Associate Director of Contracts and Grants.
- Maintain systems to track contracts, subcontracts, and agreements efficiently.
- Act as a liaison to the Grants Management Office and provide senior leadership with specific grant and contract information.
- Support the Pre-Award Associate Director in delivering training programs to Principal Investigators and research staff.
- Follow the university’s information security and confidentiality policies strictly, reporting any breaches or risks promptly.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure task completion as necessary.
- Commit to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
