FY27 Software Engineering Internship - 6 Months - Cork

Company Overview

QT Technologies Ireland Limited offers a comprehensive internship program within various Software Engineering teams focusing on advanced technology domains such as cloud AI, 5G/6G cellular networks, AI automation, and hardware engineering.

Role Overview

This internship provides hands-on experience in multiple specialized teams, including Data Center (Cloud AI) working on system software and AI-driven cloud infrastructures; AI Cellular focusing on 5G/6G network automation and analysis tools development; and AI Automation Engineering involving AI/ML systems and hardware-related tasks such as GPU verification and RTL simulation environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop tools, prototypes, and frameworks to enhance network performance analysis and optimization.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to address engineering challenges from data processing to actionable AI insights.
• Engage in diverse tasks including software development, AI/ML model pipelines, and hardware verification workflows.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
• Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study; Master's students ideally in their second year.
• Strong coding skills in Python with experience in machine learning libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Sound understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles.
• Basic machine learning knowledge, including large language models and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with ML Ops/AI Ops concepts such as model deployment and lifecycle management.
• Experience with APIs, automation, data pipelines, or experimentation workflows.
• Fundamental networking understanding including TCP/IP, UDP, and proficiency with Linux environments.
• Hands-on exposure to large language model tools, agent workflows, and the ability to develop, test, and iterate AI/ML solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and eagerness to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Experience

• Intermediate programming skills in C, C++, or Python.
• Exposure to ML ecosystems like HuggingFace, LangChain, or related frameworks.
• Experience or coursework involving model training, evaluation, or fine-tuning.
• Working knowledge of version control (Git), containerization (Docker), or CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with vector databases, retrieval systems, GenAI, Agentic AI, or system-level programming.
• Knowledge of cellular technologies (LTE 4G, 5G NR) or graphics APIs such as Vulkan, DirectX, or OpenGL.

The internship is scheduled to begin as early as January 2027. There is no explicit prior work experience required; however, candidates should demonstrate the ability to meet the responsibilities and required competencies.
