Job description

Role Overview and Working Hours

This pharmacy technician role based at our Seaton Superstore offers essential support in dispensing and checking medicines with an hourly pay starting at 5.70, with potential increases for locations within the M25. We guarantee a minimum of 16 hours weekly, with flexible options down to 12 hours available. Scheduled shifts fall within the following availability windows, providing a three-week notice prior to shift commencement for optimal planning:

  • Monday: 11:00 to 20:00
  • Tuesday: 11:00 to 20:00
  • Friday: 09:00 to 17:00
  • Saturday: 09:00 to 17:00

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform accuracy checking of dispensed prescriptions post pharmacist clinical verification, or dispense prescriptions when the accuracy checking role is not operational.
  • Identify and assist customers needing guidance by providing relevant advice on ailments, symptoms, and product choices.
  • Understand customer needs to recommend appropriate products, explaining benefits clearly, ensuring suitability and safety.
  • Inform customers about available pharmacy services and support their delivery according to established protocols.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures during the dispensing and checking processes.
  • Assess legal validity and accuracy of prescriptions confidently and handle queries from healthcare professionals within competence scope.
  • Maintain clean and orderly dispensary and consultation areas.
  • Contribute to team efforts by supporting promotional and company initiatives and striving to meet departmental objectives.
  • Support pharmacy management with coaching, supervision, and ongoing development of team members.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and professional pharmacy standards and practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must hold a Pharmacy Technician or Accuracy Checking Technician NVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy or Accuracy Checking Technician.
  • Proof of completion of an accredited Accuracy Checking Technician or Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Completion of annual Continuing Professional Development and maintenance of GPhC registration.
