What you will do
- Keep resident medical charts organized by assembling, reviewing, logging, and filing both digital and paper records.
- Audit charts on a routine basis to confirm they are complete, correct, and aligned with state and federal rules.
- Handle approved medical record requests from families, physicians, and legal representatives while following HIPAA requirements.
- Enter accurate updates into the electronic health record system during admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Support the Medical Records Director with day-to-day office tasks, scanning, and digital file management.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of office or clerical experience is required.
- Background in a medical office or skilled nursing environment is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record platforms such as PointClickCare is expected.
- Good understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and information security practices is necessary.
- Strong organizational ability and accuracy in busy, high-volume settings are important.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
