Overview
The Mechanical Machining Research Workshop at the Hamburg University of Technology is a core facility supporting both research and teaching activities. Tasks range from CAD/CAM programming and detailed construction to assembly and commissioning of machinery, offering an engaging variety of work. We encourage creative ideas and well-grounded expertise to deliver excellent solutions for innovative projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines controlled by Siemens or Heidenhain systems (DIN ISO).
- Select and inspect tools, clamping devices, fixtures, and measuring instruments.
- Perform CAD/CAM programming tasks.
- Conduct water jet cutting and electrical discharge machining (EDM) work.
- Manufacture components based on drawings, 3D data, or occasionally sketches.
Candidate Profile
Required:
- Completed vocational training as a Mechanical Machinist (Zerspanungsmechaniker/in), Precision Mechanic, or Industrial Mechanic with at least 3.5 years of training duration.
Preferred:
- Programming skills with Siemens and Heidenhain controls.
- Basic knowledge in machining various materials.
- Professional experience with independent working methods within the job scope and strong quality awareness.
- Excellent German language skills (C1 level) and proficiency in English.
