Job description
Role overview
Martell Group is hiring an experienced YouTube Content Strategist to shape the creative direction of a high-performing YouTube channel based in Lake Country, British Columbia. This role goes beyond production support: it calls for someone who can evaluate the channel, define the content strategy, and make clear recommendations that help the channel grow in views, engagement, and business impact.
The wider Martell Group builds people, brands, and ventures that drive meaningful outcomes across its four companies. The business works at the intersection of audience building, operations, and execution to launch scalable products and support ambitious leaders in media, B2B SaaS, and AI. Founded by entrepreneur and investor Dan Martell, the group values leadership, growth, and simplicity. Applicants are automatically considered across all open opportunities within the group’s companies, not only the role they first apply to.
This is an in-office position with base compensation of CAD 80,000 to CAD 90,000, plus performance incentives.
What you'll do
- Build and run a long-range YouTube strategy that supports both audience expansion and business goals.
- Spot content opportunities with strong potential for views, engagement, and channel momentum.
- Study trends, competitors, viewer interests, and new openings within the YouTube space.
- Create content plans and publishing approaches that support consistent, scalable growth.
- Develop fresh video concepts with both viral appeal and lasting value.
- Design ideas intended to improve click-through rates, retention, and audience interaction.
- Shape content that balances entertainment, education, storytelling, and commercial objectives.
- Facilitate ideation sessions and experiment with new formats and creative angles.
- Draft and polish scripts, outlines, and story structures for video content.
- Strengthen hooks, narrative flow, pacing, and calls to action.
- Optimize every script for watch time and viewer retention.
- Continuously raise the storytelling quality of the channel.
- Review channel, audience, and video-level performance data.
- Use analytics to uncover opportunities and guide future content decisions.
- Track metrics such as click-through rate, retention, watch time, subscriber growth, and engagement.
- Turn performance insights into practical improvements for content, packaging, and production.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner for all YouTube content choices.
- Advise on how content, messaging, and formats should evolve as the channel matures.
- Work closely with Dan and the broader team to elevate content quality and results.
- Support filming, direction, or production work when needed.
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years of experience creating, producing, or managing YouTube content with measurable results.
- Strong working knowledge of YouTube analytics, retention, click-through optimization, and growth tactics.
- Experience developing scripts and high-performing video concepts.
- Sharp storytelling instincts and a strong grasp of audience psychology.
- Ability to recognize trends while keeping evergreen opportunities in view.
- Comfort working with data and translating findings into strategic direction.
- Excellent communication and creative leadership skills.
- Experience with creator brands, personal brands, media companies, or educational channels is preferred.
- A background in film production, directing, screenwriting, documentary work, journalism, or similar storytelling disciplines is an advantage.
- Experience helping a YouTube channel grow from an early stage to a larger audience is preferred.
- Familiarity with production workflows, filming, and creative direction is useful.
- Own content creation experience or prior management of a YouTube channel is a strong plus.
Compensation and work setup
This role is based in-office in Lake Country, British Columbia, Canada. The compensation package includes a CAD 80,000 to CAD 90,000 base salary along with performance incentives.
