About the Role

Join the Queensland Department of Education as a Youth Transition Officer in the Metropolitan South Region, where you will play a vital role in supporting at-risk youth. This position involves working closely with schools, families, and community organizations to assist students in successfully moving into further education, vocational training, or employment pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and assistance to young people and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about viable education and training options.
  • Support vulnerable youth from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young people, individuals with disabilities, and those in care.
  • Collaborate with schools to develop and implement effective retention and transition programs aimed at improving education outcomes for vulnerable students.
  • Establish connections with government departments, community agencies, and training providers to deliver appropriate support for youth within the justice system.
  • Maintain strong networks with school-based support staff across multiple schools to coordinate tailored support interventions for each unique demographic and transition management need.
