Role Overview

Join the Glenorchy Jobs Hub team as a dedicated Youth Employment Coach committed to empowering Tasmanian youth aged 15-25. This role involves guiding young individuals through career exploration, assisting with employment, apprenticeship, traineeship opportunities, and supporting education and training transitions. You'll collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders including employers, schools, and community organizations to build strong vocational pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer tailored career coaching and support to young people to help them define and pursue their employment and educational objectives.
• Assist youth in setting realistic goals and creating clear, actionable plans for employment, education, or training transitions.
• Provide practical readiness guidance such as resume writing, job application strategies, interview preparation, and workplace skills development.
• Track participant progress and deliver post-placement support to ensure long-term employment stability.
• Represent the program at career expos, community events, and youth-focused activities to advocate for career opportunities.
• Partner with schools to develop and implement programs that equip students with industry-relevant skills and pathways.
• Connect participants to internal and external training initiatives and pre-employment courses.
• Collaborate with registered training organizations, employment agencies, government bodies, and community groups to enhance youth employment gateways.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers and industry figures to identify workforce demands and job openings.
• Engage with partner organizations to mitigate participation barriers and improve training and employment outcomes for young people.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience working with youth aged 15-25 across employment services, education, community work, or related fields.
• Deep understanding of youth employment challenges and pathways, with a track record of mentoring or supporting young people's success.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills capable of fostering productive relationships with employers, schools, training providers, and community bodies.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal abilities allowing engagement with diverse groups.
• Competency in building trust through trauma-informed, strengths-focused, and person-centered practices.
• Strong organizational skills ensuring task prioritization, record maintenance, and outcome delivery.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Credentials in Youth Work, Community Services, Career Development, Employment Services, Education, or Human Services.
• Exposure to workforce development, recruitment, employment programs, or school-to-work transitions.
• Familiarity with Tasmanian youth employment, training, and educational landscapes.

Terms of Employment

• Fixed-term appointment through 30 September 2027.
• Full-time role requiring 76 hours per fortnight.
• Annual remuneration of $87,161.49 with 15% superannuation.
• Regular rostered day off every fortnight.
