Role overview
QatarEnergy LNG is planning a hiring drive in India in the latter part of 2026. Only applicants who are shortlisted for this role will be contacted and invited to a face-to-face interview. Walk-in attendance will not be considered.
This position is responsible for overseeing all machining work in the workshop that supports operations readiness, commissioning, and start-up activities. The role is focused on meeting maintenance needs while keeping workshop tools and equipment operating with the highest standards of safety, quality, integrity, and reliability, in support of the targets set by the relevant Operations Expansion & Start Up (OES) or Offshore Expansion, Sustainability & Start-Up (OESS) teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead workshop machining operations with efficient use of resources and a strong focus on safe execution.
- Make sure machining work is carried out in line with applicable international standards and codes.
- Confirm that all work meets the company’s QA/QC expectations and reliability benchmarks.
- Oversee the handling and storage of machining consumables so equipment availability remains at 100%.
- Verify that balancing work is completed to the highest standard required by the division.
- Monitor progress to ensure machining tasks stay on the biweekly schedule.
- Organize machining work during routine operations as well as shutdown periods, maintaining quality and safety throughout.
- Keep shop machinery in proper working condition and arrange periodic testing to satisfy company standards and inspection needs.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks and Job Safety Analyses, and identify as well as reduce hazards before work begins.
- Ensure turning and machining materials are used efficiently, with no unnecessary wastage, and that unused materials are returned to the warehouse with proper records.
Qualifications and experience
A Higher National Diploma in engineering is required. The ideal candidate should have 8 years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical sector in a comparable role.
Skills and capabilities
The role calls for strong English communication skills, computer literacy, the ability to lead safety briefings, hazard identification skills, and the capacity to read and interpret engineering drawings.
