Job description
Role overview
This position is part of an India-based recruitment drive planned for the later part of 2026. Only candidates who are shortlisted will be invited for a face-to-face interview; walk-in interviews will not be considered.
Purpose of the role
The technician will support electrical activities for expansion projects, including pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up work. The role also involves safe electrical field maintenance work, covering preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, to help maintain the reliability and availability of company assets across North, South, RLTO & Refining, Barzan, and NFE facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up activities for new equipment and facilities.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on field electrical equipment in both field and workshop environments, following safe work methods.
- Confirm that required materials and spare parts are ready and serviceable before maintenance begins, in line with the work plan.
- Follow approved maintenance procedures and ensure adequate safeguards are in place for a safe workplace.
- Maintain accurate job records and complete work close-out reports as required, under the guidance of the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical field problems and submit timely reports as instructed by the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, Electrical Index documents, electrical datasheets, logic diagrams, and other technical records needed to resolve equipment issues.
- Use calibrated and certified tools appropriate to the job and comply with intrinsic safety requirements.
- Take part in regular toolbox talks and report near misses, incidents, and accidents by raising B-Safe and observation cards.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and operating issues, and escalate complex matters to the Maintenance Superintendent, vendors, or OEM support when needed.
Qualifications
The role requires completion of secondary school education, followed by a vocational training programme (TAFE).
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a technician in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry is required.
Skills and capabilities
Applicants should be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English, work with computerized maintenance management systems, understand preventive and predictive maintenance and condition monitoring methods, use basic computer applications, read technical and electrical drawings, and adapt well to a multinational workplace with diverse cultures and customs.
