Job description
Role purpose
The role is responsible for leading the Supplier Relations Management (SRM) structure for QatarEnergy LNG. It involves shaping policies, procedures, and operating practices that help evaluate each supplier’s contribution and importance to the business. The position also drives market research by reviewing market conditions, customer trends, and cost drivers to secure strong value for the company and its shareholders.
Key responsibilities
- Build, implement, and continuously improve the corporate Supplier Relations Management framework so supplier value can be maximized and the company can strengthen its market position.
- Act as the subject matter expert for supplier relationship management, supporting collaboration, open communication, continuous improvement, and trust-based partnerships with selected suppliers.
- Maintain productive supplier relationships that encourage quality, efficiency, and innovation while creating value for the organization.
- Work closely with department managers, division managers, and heads across QatarEnergy LNG to understand supplier relationship needs and coordinate the required supplier alignment activities.
- Identify relevant procurement categories and lead targeted market intelligence work to understand market behavior and uncover cost-saving opportunities.
- Evaluate and guide the use of market intelligence systems, tools, and best practices within the Supply department.
- Oversee supplier performance and KPI tracking across the organization to highlight strengths and pinpoint improvement areas.
- Plan and deliver training and knowledge transfer for contracting and procurement teams on market trends, pricing, and competitive offerings to help capture savings.
- Hire, guide, and develop the Supplier Relations and Research Specialist while ensuring effective market intelligence support for department, group, and corporate goals.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and end users to identify business issues, changing supplier needs, and suitable vendor solutions.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, supply chain, business, or a commercial field is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Practical understanding of how market analysis supports contracting and negotiation outcomes.
- Working knowledge of KPIs and how they can be used to improve supplier performance.
