Position Overview

We are looking for a diligent and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Advisor to join Varsity College in a full-time temporary role starting immediately until 11 December 2026 or as decided. This role demands an organised individual with strong organisational skills, excellent time management, prioritisation abilities, and meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate should be approachable, proactive, take personal responsibility for their goals, and thrive under deadlines. The advisor will support two campuses and report directly to the College Business Manager.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate workplace health and safety services across the P-12 College.
  • Function as the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.
  • Advise management on strategies to prevent injuries and hazards, promote health and safety, and manage risks involving students, staff, and on-site community members.
  • Conduct proactive workplace risk assessments and inspections to pinpoint hazards.
  • Develop, promote, and manage training programs related to health and safety topics.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Workplace Health and Safety committee regarding relevant matters.
  • Organise WPH&S meetings, manage related administrative tasks, facilitate professional development sessions, and support procedural guidelines.
  • Oversee the Annual Safety Assessment.
  • Manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the entire P-12 College.
  • Perform inspections to ensure the workplace remains safe.
  • Collect data from Internal School Reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with the Workplace Health and Safety program at all times.
  • Advise on incident reporting analytics and data trends.
  • Coordinate with management on the status of Rehabilitation and Return to Work programs for injured staff, including personal check-ins and reporting serious injuries or incidents.
  • Create weekly Return to Work timesheets and plans for staff recuperation.
  • Maintain communication with injured employees, track medical certificates, and update case notes within the Incident Management System (IMS).
