Job description

Overview

The Queensland Government is looking for a committed Work Health and Safety Ranger to strengthen safety practices across a wide and varied region. In this position, you will partner with managers, supervisors, and team members to support a strong safety mindset spanning remote park bases, regional workplaces, and coastal offices.

The role suits someone who is proactive, collaborative, and confident working in a geographically dispersed environment. You will contribute to practical safety solutions, help teams meet their obligations, and play a direct part in improving workplace wellbeing.

What you will do

  • Assist leaders and staff in meeting legal work health and safety responsibilities.
  • Help design, roll out, and maintain workplace safety standards and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate risk assessments, then drive appropriate control measures.
  • Ensure incidents, near misses, and hazards are properly reported and investigated.
  • Review safety information and use findings to recommend improvements.
  • Organise training activities and keep training records accurate and current.
  • Work closely with regional teams to support ongoing compliance with safety requirements.

Work environment

This position is based in Mackay, Rockhampton, or Townsville and supports 15 work units across a large region. The work will involve travel to remote park locations in outback Queensland as well as larger offices in coastal centres. Overnight travel will be required, and you should be prepared to work across a range of climatic conditions.

Additional information

Applications will stay active for 12 months. The occupational group is Primary Industry & Environment.
