Job description

Role overview

This position focuses on rewinding and repairing generator rotors and stators. The role supports generator winding work both in the service workshop and, when needed, directly at site locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Strip out existing windings from generator rotors or stators before beginning repair work.
  • Carry out rewinding activities for generator rotors and stators.
  • Repair winding and insulation systems for generators at GEMTEC or on site when required.
  • Check the hardware and consumables needed for rewinding tasks, and perform standard electrical tests during the process.
  • Complete the final visual check of rotor and stator assemblies.
  • Conduct electrical testing on generators.
  • Maintain tools and equipment used in the service workshop.
  • Prepare written reports and protocols related to generator rewinding and repair activities.
  • Support the spin pit team whenever assistance is needed.
  • Handle additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
  • Ensure all work follows GE environmental, health and safety, ethics, and compliance requirements.
  • Carry out and keep up regular periodic inspections of service workshop tools, instruments, and related components.

Required qualifications

  • Ability to perform rewinding and repair work according to technical instructions and guidance from the Lead Winder.
  • Capability to read and understand winding drawings and mechanical assembly drawings.

Preferred experience and strengths

  • At least 3 years of experience working with winding of turbogenerators above 25 MW.
  • Background in manual winding work for turbo generators.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of winding processes.
  • Working knowledge of induction heating machines.
  • Comfort using common office IT tools.
  • Experience with dimensional measurements.
  • Exposure to mechanical assembly activities connected to generators.
