Role overview
This position focuses on rewinding and repairing generator rotors and stators. The role is based in Dammam, Eastern, Saudi Arabia, and involves hands-on workshop and site work related to generator winding activities.
Key duties
- Strip out existing windings from generator rotors or stators before rewinding begins.
- Carry out rewinding work on generator rotors and stators.
- Repair generator winding and insulation systems at GEMTEC or on site when needed.
- Check the hardware and consumables required for rewinding jobs, and perform standard electrical tests during the process.
- Complete the final visual review of rotors and stators.
- Conduct electrical testing on generators.
- Look after tools and equipment used in the service workshop.
- Prepare written reports and protocols for rewinding and repair work, along with any related activities.
- Assist the spin pit team whenever support is required.
- Take on additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Ensure all work follows the company's environmental, health and safety, ethics, and compliance requirements.
- Set up and maintain periodic inspections of workshop tools, instruments, and related components.
Qualifications and experience
- Must be able to perform rewinding and repair work according to technical instructions and guidance from the Lead Winder.
- Should be able to interpret winding drawings and mechanical assembly drawings.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in winding turbogenerators above 25 MW is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with manual winding work for turbo generators is expected.
- Background in a production environment is desirable.
- Strong understanding of winding processes is needed.
- Knowledge of operating induction heating machines is required.
- Experience using common office IT tools is preferred.
- Ability to perform dimensional measurements is needed.
- Experience with mechanical assembly tasks related to generators is preferred.
- English language skills, both spoken and written, are required.
- Good communication skills, independence with teamwork, accuracy, flexibility, reliability, and stress tolerance are important.
