Job description
About the Role
Amazon is seeking a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join its site team in Jiddah. In this position, you will work closely with Site Operations to put safety policies into practice, support compliance with local and regional regulations, and help drive a safer, healthier workplace.
The role calls for someone who can use lean thinking and kaizen methods to improve processes, reduce condition-related and ergonomic risks, and strengthen safety performance across the site. You should be able to earn trust with operations leaders, influence positive change, and use risk assessments and safety data to support decisions.
This position also requires strong communication skills, both spoken and written, as you will help train operations leaders on WHS policies and support site stakeholders in adopting Amazon’s safety standards. The role is part of the WHS team and reports to the site WHS manager. Flexibility to work day and night shifts is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of Amazon WHS standards and policies across the site.
- Track site performance against safety requirements and create action plans to close any gaps found.
- Deliver projects to Operations on time and with the expected quality.
- Review safety data, including weekly and monthly incident patterns, to guide resource allocation toward higher-risk areas.
- Carry out incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify unsafe equipment or processes.
- Put measures in place to remove exposure to identified risks and reduce the chance of injury.
- Review record-keeping practices and ensure entries comply with global WHS standards and local rules.
- Check workplace organization and associate behavior so training, audits, and scoring stay accurate and consistent.
- Coach and support safety associates in assigned facilities.
- Make sure site leaders and associates understand their responsibilities under each policy.
- Review the quality, delivery, trainer qualifications, and effectiveness of all mandatory safety training.
- Monitor PPE stock at the site and coordinate with procurement teams to maintain compliance.
- Work with facility teams to ensure preventive maintenance of fire protection and emergency equipment.
- Ensure basic fire-fighting and first-aid training requirements are met.
Requirements
- Background in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, or Instrumentation and Controls.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Good understanding of local and regional regulations as well as company safety policies.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including days and nights.
