Role overview
Amazon Australia is hiring a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator for its Fulfillment Center team in Jandakot, Western Australia. The role reports to the WHS Manager and is focused on helping maintain strong safety standards across the site.
The position is hands-on and site-based within the Fulfillment Center. The successful candidate will receive training on the team’s standard operating methods and WHS tools, and is expected to communicate clearly, work well with others, take initiative on safety matters, and act as a professional example for the wider workforce.
This is an hourly-paid day-shift position. The roster runs from Wednesday to Saturday and may change based on business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Spot compliance gaps, safety hazards, and improvement opportunities by carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, and escalating findings to management.
- Support the incident investigation workflow.
- Keep the necessary records and documentation aligned with Amazon and local legal requirements.
- Log safety incident details into the internal system promptly.
- Complete safety observations and audits.
- Coach area managers and others on their safety duties, including audits, rule compliance, and inspections.
- Depending on the site and business unit, take on additional duties related to fire prevention, hazardous waste handling, or other safety activities.
- Take part in continuous improvement efforts and follow through on assigned actions until closure.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related discipline or Certificate IV in WHS.
Preferred background
- Prior experience in logistics.
- Experience working with data analysis.
