Job overview
We are looking for a Welsh Language Expert to support a customer team in maintaining strong linguistic quality across different projects. This remote contract role is well suited to someone who can apply Welsh language expertise to improve communication, accuracy, and overall content standards.
What you will do
- Check, refine, and proofread Welsh content so that the language is correct and culturally appropriate.
- Translate materials between English and Welsh while following project instructions and agreed timelines.
- Work with different teams to share guidance on Welsh language usage and best practices.
- Help develop Welsh resources, glossaries, and supporting documentation.
- Provide input on tone, style, and suitability for Welsh communication pieces.
- Carry out quality checks on Welsh-language work to keep output consistent and high quality.
- Support spoken and written Welsh communication whenever needed for project delivery.
Skills and qualifications
- Native-level or near-native Welsh fluency with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, polished language.
- Hands-on experience in Welsh translation, localization, or content editing.
- Good understanding of Welsh grammar, expressions, idioms, and cultural context.
- Ability to work independently from a remote environment with solid time management.
- Comfort working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and incorporating feedback.
- Strong commitment to quality, reliability, and meeting deadlines.
Preferred background
A background in linguistics, language teaching, or a related discipline is an advantage. Experience using CAT tools or digital content management systems is also preferred, along with prior involvement in Welsh language advocacy or community initiatives.
