Overview
Virginia MetalFab is seeking a driven and dynamic Welder/Metal Fabricator Lead to join their exceptional team. This role involves fabricating, positioning, aligning, and fitting components of structural metal products, as well as operating machines for sawing, cutting, shearing, punching, bending, and straightening metal materials.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and instructions to determine required materials, task sequences, and methods.
- Examine work orders to assess product specifications and material needs.
- Accurately measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications using tools like squares and measuring tapes.
- Align, fit, and secure parts using various tools such as jacks, turnbuckles, clamps, and bolts in preparation for welding or riveting.
- Manually or mechanically position parts using hoists or cranes.
- Set up and use jigs, fixtures, welding torches, hand tools, and welding equipment.
- Operate fabricating machinery—including brakes, rolls, shears, plasma cutters, grinders, punch presses, milling machines, drill presses, plate rolling machines, and lathes—to manipulate metal components.
- Lay out metal materials and inspect assemblies to confirm specifications are attained.
- Perform cutting, cleaning, fitting, and tack welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel parts.
- Utilize cranes, forklifts, and other equipment to lift and move materials and products safely.
- Remove surface irregularities and create bevels with hand files, grinders, and cutting torches.
- Finish metal surfaces and install taps, tubes, and valves.
- Install attachments and tools on production machines.
- Assemble temporary equipment or structures as necessary.
- Mark bending and cutting lines on workpieces considering material thickness and machine/welding shrinkage.
- Design and fabricate templates, patterns, and fixtures using hand tools.
- Use hammers, chippers, and grinders to shape metal, straighten warped parts, and meet established specifications.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding as required.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position with shifts from Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Willingness and ability to wear different types of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to lift or carry loads between 51-100 pounds.
- Capacity to push or pull loads between 41-100 pounds.
- At least 6 to 12 months of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Technical proficiency in machine setup and operation, good mathematical ability, and the skill to work from blueprints.
- Basic computer competency including MS Suite.
- Forklift operator certification.
- Effective oral communication skills.
- Strong sense of accountability and accuracy in job performance.
- Awareness of safety practices and ability to identify and correct hazards.
- Research, problem-solving, innovative thinking, conceptual and analytical abilities.
