Role Overview
We are seeking a committed Welder/Fabricator to join our La Porte, TX team. This role involves diagnosing and adjusting industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators, utilizing various manual machining tools and balancing equipment. Adherence to safety procedures and an ability to work from detailed drawings and blueprints are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a range of manual machine tools including engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines.
- Safely handle overhead and gantry cranes, forklifts, and perform rigging tasks.
- Conduct mechanical measurements with instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum high school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 3 years of welding and fabrication experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
- Experience in electric motor repair, rotating equipment maintenance, or heavy industrial maintenance is highly favored.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding; additional welding certifications are an advantage.
- Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, and use measuring tools like tape measures, calipers, levels, squares, and micrometers.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication methods, welding techniques, and material properties.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards.
- Motivated self-starter with effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to perform basic math functions.
