Maintenance Technician

Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting the Maintenance Department within a cannabis cultivation facility. This role involves performing installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Specialists by clarifying departmental procedures.
• Support Assistant Maintenance and Maintenance Manager in training new staff.
• Execute routine maintenance checklists daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Diagnose and resolve minor issues related to electrical, plumbing, structural, and equipment repairs.
• Maintain optimal condition and operation of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems within the facility.
• Report maintenance concerns promptly to the Maintenance Manager.
• Keep accurate records of scheduled maintenance activities.
• Perform cleaning and upkeep tasks both inside and outside the building.
• Coordinate with external contractors for necessary servicing of facilities and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with quality control standards in line with state and local regulations.
• Follow company policies and Standard Operating Procedures rigorously.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace within production and facility areas.
• Notify the Maintenance Manager immediately of any discrepancies in systems.
• Engage in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity.
• Provide additional support to cultivation, harvest, and production teams as necessary to meet facility production goals.
• Undertake any other tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience in maintenance within a production environment.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, and/or plumbing.
• Intermediate skills in mechanical equipment repair.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
• Willingness to safely learn and operate facility equipment.
• Comfortable working at heights, around soil and water, and in confined spaces.
• Physical ability to climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel, stand for up to 8 hours, and lift weights up to 50 pounds safely.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be 21+ years old and eligible to register with the state cannabis commission as an agent.
• Compliance with all relevant industry laws, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Education

High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent qualification is favored.

Physical and Mental Requirements

The role requires frequent stationary positions, movement of tools and objects, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing approximately 90% of the time. Tasks may involve climbing ladders up to 25 feet and working on scaffolding. The environment includes varying temperature and humidity, with exposure to natural elements such as pollen and dust. Close vision focus and observation skills are essential. These demands must be met with or without reasonable accommodation to perform job functions effectively.

Workplace Conditions

Work occurs primarily in a warehouse setting, with occasional exposure to moving machinery parts and electrical shock risks. Noise levels are generally moderate.

Compensation

This is a full-time position offering an hourly wage of $20.
