Role overview
This position suits a finance professional with a strong background in FP&A, strategic finance, or investor relations. The selected candidate will work closely with internal Finance partners and business unit COO teams, helping senior leaders make informed decisions through clear financial analysis and insight. The role calls for a proactive, self-driven person who can produce new analytical materials for weekly updates to executive leadership.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the firm’s annual Investor Day presentation, coordinating inputs from the business unit COO, External Reporting, Legal, and Marketing teams, and helping senior leaders communicate the company’s strategy clearly to investors.
- Prepare the firm’s quarterly earnings estimate, summarize the results for senior management, and handle follow-up questions and any open items raised during discussion.
- Assess external consensus earnings models maintained by coverage analysts and act as a main contact for these outside stakeholders.
- Analyze quarterly P&L forecasts and actual results, including variance trends versus prior periods, and turn the findings into a concise story explaining performance across major business lines such as Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and Asset Management.
- Partner with the External Reporting team to support the timely and accurate release of the firm’s quarterly earnings press announcement.
- Build weekly discussion materials and agendas for meetings with the firm Controller and CFO.
- Support the development and management of junior team members by ensuring they are trained and given the guidance they need.
- Work with IT to create, improve, and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and AI agents.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and executive presentations on topics such as segment profitability, total addressable market opportunities, market share and competitor review, and return on tangible equity scenario analysis.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, investor relations, financial reporting, or a closely related finance function, ideally within financial services and preferably at an investment bank.
- Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, accounting fundamentals, financial markets, and financial products.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to convert large datasets into clear, executive-level analysis and presentations.
- Hands-on experience building sophisticated financial models.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and the capacity to manage several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information to different audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate across functions, engage with stakeholders at all levels, and work independently with good judgment.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A CFA or an equivalent credential is viewed favorably.
Compensation
The New York, NY salary range for this full-time role is $160,000 to $180,000.
