Job description

About the Role

Bunch is redefining private market infrastructure by delivering a unified system that integrates secure data frameworks, AI-driven workflows, and expert fund services. As the Head of Finance, you will be the senior-most finance professional, responsible for reconstructing the finance department from scratch. Having recently completed its Series B funding round and managing multiple entities internationally, bunch is poised for Series C and eventual exit. Your leadership will cover capital management, forecasting, budgeting, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions finance, and ERP implementation, all while building a finance function fit for significant growth.

This role reports directly to the General Counsel and collaborates closely with the founders and leadership team of this fast-growing, venture-backed fintech company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end budgeting processes, both top-down and bottom-up, working across departments, conducting monthly variance analyses, quarterly budget reviews, procurement oversight, and ensuring financial plans align with strategic goals and KPIs.
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive cash flow forecasting model, reporting regularly on burn rate and runway to management.
  • Produce and present financial updates for board meetings and investor communications, addressing KPI queries and progress discussions.
  • Establish analytical capabilities parallel to Series C/D stage companies, including unit economics analysis, cohort studies, profitability models, and operational KPI centralization; improve data quality across teams, and support commercial pricing strategies. Recruit and grow the finance team as needed.
  • Manage all financial activities related to equity rounds, including modeling, due diligence, and investor interaction aiming at preparing the company for Series C funding.
  • Oversee financial due diligence, M&A modeling, target evaluation, and post-acquisition integration; cultivate relationships with European banking partners for financing acquisitions.
  • Maintain and optimize banking relationships, enforce treasury policies, and mitigate financial risks such as currency fluctuations through strategies like hedging.
  • Lead and execute ERP system deployment across the organization.
  • Administer existing non-dilutive funding and spearhead further applications such as grants across markets.
  • Coordinate audits, tax advisory, and accounting partnerships, driving cost efficiency and process improvements.
  • Promote finance team excellence through process automation and high-performance culture that advances company growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Over six years of advancing experience in in-house finance roles (preferably within SaaS or VC-backed firms), private equity, management/financial consulting, or investment banking, including a minimum of three years in leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing VC financing rounds beyond Series B.
  • Strong capability in developing detailed financial models from the ground up, handling multi-entity and multi-currency environments.
  • Proficient with financial software such as DATEV, Stripe, Moss, Spendesk, and ERPs like NetSuite.
  • Full ownership and management of forecasting and budgeting cycles.
  • Hands-on and strategic mindset poised to evolve into a VP-level role, emphasizing building from scratch rather than purely team oversight.
  • Technical proficiency partnered with commercial acumen and confident communication suitable for boardroom and investor interaction.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex data to varied audiences.
  • Highly proactive and solution-driven approach.
  • Experience in fund or fintech industries is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Comfortable operating amid ambiguity and designing novel financial processes.
  • Fluent English required; advanced German (B2/C1+) strongly preferred.

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Collaborate within a diverse, energetic, and ownership-oriented team culture.
  • Engage with passionate investment professionals and leading players in private markets.
  • Enjoy flexible working hours and a hybrid office model (three days per week onsite).
  • Four remote work weeks annually.
  • 28 vacation days, two company-wide holidays, in addition to local public holidays.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive tech setup.

Recruitment Process

  • Initial 30-minute People Team interview to assess mutual fit.
  • 45-minute Deep Dive focusing on collaboration, ownership, and cultural alignment.
  • 90-120 minute case study for evaluating technical expertise.
  • Two to three follow-up interviews with founders and key stakeholders lasting approximately 30 minutes each.

Company Overview

Bunch is pioneering next-generation operating systems for private markets by fusing AI automation and regulatory knowledge into a single, integrated platform that replaces fragmented, manual fund management processes. With over fourfold growth in annual recurring revenue in early 2025, a user base of 150 fund managers and 12,000 limited partners, and a recently closed $35M Series B funding round, bunch offers ambitious professionals a chance to tackle demanding problems and develop impactful infrastructure.
