Role Summary

The Vice President for Specialty Line Sales in K-12 Humanities oversees cultivating and sustaining business partnerships with both current and potential national clients to achieve sales goals. This role involves devising and executing strategies for business expansion, managing contracts, and forecasting brand and account performance. The position requires sound independent judgment to tackle complex and distinctive challenges, coordinating with sales, development, marketing, and product teams to implement sales and go-to-market initiatives seamlessly. The VP ensures products align with and exceed customer expectations, particularly administrators, teachers, parents, and students, and promotes new product visibility in the marketplace by strategically managing school district and educational institution partnerships to drive successful adoptions. Key performance targets include meeting or surpassing sales revenue goals for K-12 Humanities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive focus on innovative and novel product models and new market opportunities.
  • Prioritize and identify high-value early adoptions involving crucial decision-makers.
  • Collaborate internally to gather market insights, customer feedback, and product feature needs to guide development.
  • Select and cultivate relationships with key advisory groups strategically.
  • Establish and nurture durable, high-satisfaction relationships with senior-level decision-makers and influencers at assigned customer accounts.
  • Create demand by elevating product and service awareness among customers.
  • Hold regular strategic meetings with customer leadership to understand needs and align with product strategies.
  • Achieve or exceed established sales revenue targets for humanities disciplines.
  • Provide actionable trends, insights, and feedback from early field implementation and testing.
  • Work in harmony with product development, management, and marketing teams to craft and implement effective go-to-market strategies, including training and resource allocation for sales force success.
  • Track ongoing product campaigns and develop competitive approaches to close deals.
  • Partner with product marketing to generate compelling sales presentations and coordinate with sales specialists to maintain message consistency.
  • Monitor sales pipelines, opportunity stages, and quarterly revenue forecasts for the product line.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in elementary or secondary education strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in Humanities subject matter is essential.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience typically gained as a humanities teacher, instructional coach, educational administrator, or curriculum director within K-12 education.
  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience is necessary.
  • Leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong passion and understanding of K-12 learning environments.
  • Exceptional relationship-building capabilities, demonstrating empathy and responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Ability to engage in detailed discussions with school district specialists focused on K-12 Humanities products.
  • Capable of presenting persuasive pitches in both large and intimate high-pressure sales settings.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethics such as self-motivation, discipline, persistence, and teamwork.
  • Excellent multitasking, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Proactively stays updated on industry trends and specific customer issues.
  • Extensive overnight travel commitment is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities for internal and external interactions.
  • Comfortable utilizing technology tools; experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring salary range is estimated between $125,000 and $160,000 annually, subject to variables like skills, experience, budget, and equity. The total rewards package includes competitive pay, diverse benefits, wellness programs, and professional growth opportunities. Potential bonus or incentive compensation may also apply.
