Job description
Role Overview
The Volunteer Support Officer plays a crucial role within the Unit Support Team by providing specialised and dynamic assistance to VICSES volunteer units and their management teams. This includes tasks such as administration, compliance oversight, managing grant applications, and coordinating logistics to ensure units are operationally ready.
Work Schedule
The position is ongoing and full-time, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. Out-of-hours work and some travel will also be necessary to support volunteer units during scheduled training sessions, unit meetings, and regional activities.
About Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES)
VICSES is a predominantly volunteer-driven organization that undertakes emergency response activities across Victoria. These include responding to floods, storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and providing aid to other agencies as mandated by the VICSES Act. Staff members are either directly employed or may be called upon during emergencies following suitable training and assessment.
As Australia's largest road rescue network, VICSES provides 24/7 response to road accidents and trauma incidents. It also supports agencies like Victoria Police, the Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria, Parks Victoria, and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action during major emergency events.
