About the Role
Mercor works with top creative and technical professionals and places them with major AI research organizations. The company is based in San Francisco and counts Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey among its investors.
This opportunity is for a Voice Actor focused on CX agent voice cloning with a Southern USA accent. The work is remote, on a contract basis, and is expected to run for 1 to 2 weeks with a weekly commitment of 5 to 10 hours.
Compensation
The pay for this assignment is $50 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Capture clean, high-quality voice recordings from a variety of scripts, including conversational, narrative, and instructional content.
- Speak with clarity, warmth, and expression while maintaining control over pace, pronunciation, and tone.
- Keep the voice, accent, and delivery style consistent across all recording sessions.
- Work according to recording instructions covering setup, surroundings, microphone use, and file specifications.
- Complete multiple takes when needed, adjusting emotion, emphasis, and style as requested.
Qualifications
Applicants should be native Southern American English speakers currently located in the United States and able to deliver an authentic Southern U.S. accent. Prior experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting is required. A professional or near-professional recording setup is also necessary, including a quality microphone, pop filter, and a quiet recording space. Strong control over diction, intonation, and emotional expression is important, along with the ability to follow scripts accurately while still sounding natural. Candidates must also be available for 5 to 10 hours per week during the project timeline.
Preferred Experience
It is beneficial to have recorded for TTS projects, audiobooks, IVR systems, or AI voice datasets. Familiarity with audio editing software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper is also useful. The ideal candidate can vary delivery across multiple vocal styles, including conversational, corporate, energetic, and calm.

The applicant's voice may be cloned for the client's CX AI agent. Recordings will be used only for this specific purpose and will not be sold or repurposed elsewhere.
