Life Science Specialist - Remote Contract Role

This contract position seeks a Biology Expert (PhD) focused on AI Safety. The work is fully remote, offering a flexible schedule ranging from 15 to 25 hours per week, with an option to increase up to 40 hours weekly. Compensation is offered between $65 and $70 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft highly specialized prompts in various life sciences domains to improve AI model understanding.
• Critically assess and annotate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy and management of sensitive information.
• Utilize structured protocols to categorize prompts and conversations effectively.
• Enhance AI capabilities related to life-science topics by leveraging scientific expertise.
• Operate autonomously and asynchronously, managing deadlines while advancing model safety.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession or pursuit of a PhD in biology or closely related life sciences field.
• In-depth knowledge of contemporary laboratory methods and computational biology techniques.
• Strong proficiency in scientific reasoning and technical writing in English.
• Sound ethical judgment concerning biosecurity and responsible management of dual-use biological information.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in biosafety or biosecurity research or coursework, including pathogen biology or gain-of-function topics.
• Experience with technical content assessment, such as grading or red-teaming activities.
