Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Vocational Instructor will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate students' preparedness for internships and employment opportunities. Responsibilities include understanding students' aspirations and needs through direct communication, coordinating suitable job training and internship placements, and providing personalized job coaching. The role involves assessing and analyzing job sites, conducting educational programs for employers and stakeholders, and preparing students thoroughly for internships through one-on-one tailored training.
Additional duties encompass devising job coaching techniques, helping students identify barriers and set goals, enhancing their confidence and job interest during internships, and equipping them to effectively fulfill job tasks. The instructor will also support students' motivation, social, and life skill development, provide intervention strategies, and refer students for further professional support as needed. Engaging with employers to customize jobs, monitoring student progress, and developing comprehensive employment and career plans are integral aspects of the role.
Ensuring an inclusive work environment, maintaining detailed documentation, providing ongoing job support during internships, and liaising with internal and external partners are essential. The instructor will counsel students to improve their work habits, negotiate transitions to open employment, and prepare reports and records diligently for supervisory review.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should hold a Diploma or Degree in any field and have at least three years of experience within Food & Beverage, Horticulture, Retail Operations, or Hospitality sectors. Candidates must be excellent team players with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to manage and facilitate projects collaboratively. A self-driven, organized individual with problem-solving abilities and respect for diversity is required. Prior experience working with individuals with special needs is advantageous.
