Role overview

Queensland Corrective Services’ Southern Region Command within the Custodial Operations Division oversees custodial services across Queensland. Custodial supervision is delivered in both high- and low-security correctional centres, with high-security facilities managing adult prisoners in secure custody settings across the state.

This position is classed as an Individual Contributor role under the Queensland Leadership Competencies framework.

Key capabilities

The preferred candidate will bring relevant knowledge, practical ability, and experience aligned to the Individual Contributor leadership stream. Strong planning, organisation, problem-solving, communication, and technology skills are important, along with sound judgement and customer-focused service.

Requirements

• Ability to prioritise and organise work so deadlines are met while following all applicable policies and procedures.
• Sound judgement and discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
• Practical problem-solving ability, including using initiative and working independently or collaboratively to resolve issues.
• Clear listening, speaking, and writing skills, including the ability to summarise information and data for different audiences.
• Competent IT skills, including a willingness to learn new systems, use internal information management databases, and work with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach to supporting customers.
