Job description
Role overview
The Sentence Planning Adviser supports the day-to-day work of Sentence Management Services by carrying out sentence management duties in either a correctional centre or a HUB setting at designated locations.
This position is chiefly responsible for completing prompt and accurate assessments of prisoners as they enter the correctional system, including verifying lawful detention and supervision requirements.
The role also includes monitoring and completing administrative actions in line with established practices and procedures to help deliver an efficient and effective service.
Requirements
- Familiarity with the criminal justice system, or another regulated environment, is highly valued. If this background is not already in place, the candidate should be able to show work experience that demonstrates an ability to quickly learn it.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication abilities, together with strong attention to detail.
- Sound problem-solving capability and the confidence to handle a busy and challenging workplace.
- Good planning and organisation skills, with the ability to complete tasks by set deadlines.
- Strong people skills and negotiation skills to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders in a service-focused environment.
- The ability to deliver outcomes independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
