Job description
Role overview
Queensland Corrective Services is seeking a Sentence Planning Adviser to support the everyday delivery of Sentence Management Services. The position involves carrying out sentence management duties either in a correctional centre or in a HUB setting at approved locations.
The main focus of the role is to complete prompt and accurate assessments for prisoners entering the correctional system, including checks relating to lawful detention and supervision. The adviser will also keep administrative work moving by monitoring tasks and taking action in line with established procedures so the service remains efficient and effective.
Requirements
The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience aligned to the essential requirements for an Individual Contributor leadership stream role.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, or experience in a comparable regulated environment, is highly desirable; alternatively, the ability to quickly build this knowledge through relevant workplace experience.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Sound problem-solving ability and the capacity to handle a challenging and fast-paced workload.
- Good planning and organisation skills, with the ability to complete work within set timeframes.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to support service delivery and work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a results-focused environment.
