Job description
Role overview
The Roster Officer supports the planning and coordination of staffing rosters for the centre, working closely with the Manager Human Resources. The role also provides day-to-day administrative and clerical assistance to the centre’s human resources function.
Key duties
- Help design work rosters that align with operational requirements, relevant awards, and other industrial instruments.
- Create centre rosters and share rostering information with staff.
- Handle staffing changes in consultation with the appropriate managers.
- Check employee timesheets and confirm that pay reflects the correct award-based entitlements.
- Provide management with roster cost information and estimates.
- Review staff leave balances and flag outstanding or excess leave where needed.
- Compile annual leave rosters by collecting leave requests and updating the centre’s leave planning systems.
- Answer staff questions about roster and leave arrangements.
- Manage bank time, sick leave, and annual recreational leave requests and process them accordingly.
- Make sure leave approvals follow the relevant delegations.
- Carry out general administrative support, including data entry into computer-based roster systems.
- Assist with recruitment and selection activities at the centre.
- Keep filing systems organised and up to date.
- Respond to general human resources enquiries.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling HR information.
