Vice President/Director, Capital Formation

Position Summary

B Capital is looking for a Vice President/Director to join their Capital Formation team, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Capital Formation. This role focuses on fundraising by forming strong relationships with strategic investors and raising capital for funds and co-investments. Candidates should have a proven history of capital raising for private funds or companies and be adept at translating concepts into actionable strategies within a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate, lead, and finalize new limited partner (LP) commitments from institutional investors, family offices, wealth management firms, and high-net-worth individuals.
• Oversee the entire fundraising process, including identifying prospects, fostering relationships, leading outreach efforts, and managing diligence procedures until final commitment.
• Collaborate with the MD of Capital Formation, the Investor Relations team, and investment leaders to enhance fund positioning and tailor communications for various LP groups.
• Create and tailor fundraising presentations, data room content, due diligence questionnaires, requests for proposals, and analyses of track records and portfolios to support capital raising.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and ensure disciplined CRM tracking of interactions, feedback, and probability-weighted chances.
• Strengthen relationships with gatekeepers and intermediaries such as consultants, private banks, placement agents, and other capital partners to extend the firm's market reach.
• Act as a representative of B Capital at LP meetings, conferences, and industry forums, serving as a credible front-line fundraiser for the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• 6 to 10 years of experience in capital raising within venture capital, private equity, private credit, or related alternative investment areas, preferably including:
  • Capital formation at PE/VC firms or alternative investment managers
  • Fundraising roles at placement agent firms
  • Private company fundraising or advisory roles at investment banks or leading private technology companies
• Proven ability sourcing capital from endowments, foundations, pension funds, funds of funds, wealth managers, or family offices.
• A bachelor's degree (BS/BA) is required; MBA or other postgraduate degrees preferred.
• Strong project management abilities capable of handling concurrent fundraising initiatives.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills adept at simplifying complex information for sophisticated institutional audiences.
• High professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion in managing LP relationships.
• Role location flexible between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
• Experience or strong interest in technology investing is highly advantageous.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $300,000 to $500,000 and will be aligned with the candidate's relevant experience. This range is specifically applicable to candidates in New York and California; actual salary may vary.
