The Global Health Investment Corporation (GHIC) is a healthcare impact venture firm dedicated to funding transformative technologies and products that promote a healthier world and enhance global safety. With over ten years of pioneering impact investments, GHIC supports innovation in public health sectors.
GHIC manages the Global Health Security Fund (GHSF), a $353 million venture fund established in partnership with BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) and various mission-aligned investors such as CEPI, Flu Lab, and Eli Lilly and Company. This fund aims to accelerate technological advances addressing public health crises including pandemics and other health security threats.
Role Overview
We seek an Associate to join our New York investment team. The Associate will identify, assess, and execute investment opportunities, acquiring comprehensive knowledge of the health security ecosystem spanning diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines, medical devices, health technology, biomanufacturing, as well as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear health security challenges. The role offers a flexible work setup, diverse projects, and collaboration with a top-tier professional community.
Associates will work closely with GHIC's broad network from government entities, industry sectors, and the scientific community to discover and support impactful technologies. This role presents a distinctive chance to invest in medical countermeasures and enabling technologies that yield both public health benefits and commercial success through venture capital methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Identify and source promising investment opportunities.
- Evaluate preclinical and clinical research data.
- Engage with subject matter experts and key opinion leaders through interviews.
- Develop market analysis and financial valuation models.
- Assist in investment negotiation and closure processes.
- Monitor portfolio company developments after investment.
- Conduct research on GHIC’s focus areas to refine investment strategies.
- Collaborate with the wider GHIC team to offer organizational support as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline; advanced qualifications such as M.D. or Ph.D. are advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in life sciences investment analysis, sell-side or buy-side roles, or consulting.
- Strong proficiency in corporate finance principles and financial modeling.
- Proven interest and understanding of global health and health security domains.
- Ability to work independently with proactive organization as well as collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners including companies, co-investors, and limited partners.
- Exceptional communication and presentation capabilities.
Compensation and Diversity Statement
The estimated base salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $170,000 annually. Additional compensation includes discretionary yearly bonuses along with comprehensive benefits. Salary offers will be commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications. Outstanding candidates may be considered for elevation to a senior associate role.
