Position Summary

The Vice President of Sustainability & Impact will lead the strategic vision, implementation, and continual development of sustainability practices across Starwood’s global hotel portfolio. This senior leadership role reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations and collaborates closely with executive teams, property leaders, and cross-functional departments to translate ambitious environmental and social objectives into actionable and measurable initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and advance a comprehensive sustainability strategy that spans all brands and properties within Starwood.
• Create and maintain a clear framework with defined goals, KPIs, policies, and governance standards to ensure consistent execution.
• Oversee environmental performance monitoring across energy, water, waste management, recycling, and food waste reduction.
• Analyze sustainability data to inform strategic decisions and evaluate portfolio-wide performance.
• Produce executive-level reports and presentations for leadership, stakeholders, and investors.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations and internal teams on sustainability communications and disclosures.
• Act as the primary sustainability advisor for property teams, working with Corporate and People Operations to develop SOPs and accountability tools linked to sustainability objectives.
• Identify operational enhancements for resource efficiency and waste reduction at properties.
• Conduct annual KPI reviews and support portfolio performance assessments.
• Deliver training programs for property and operational leaders and maintain resources to aid consistent sustainability practices.
• Shape the sustainability narrative externally and internally by partnering with Marketing, Communications, and media teams.
• Manage brand storytelling efforts showcasing programs, progress, and impact to guests, investors, and media.
• Engage in community partnerships to strengthen Starwood’s sustainability footprint.
• Support Development teams and collaborate with owners, consultants, and project groups to embed sustainability principles in new property planning and design.
• Evaluate and guide food & beverage sustainability initiatives, auditing practices, supplier alignment, and guest-facing programs.
• Partner with Engineering and Design to monitor building environmental performance and create compelling sustainability stories for various channels.
• Manage external consultants for benchmarking, certifications, and annual sustainability reporting.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in luxury hospitality or design-driven brands with global or multi-property portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting systems, benchmarking tools, and certification processes.
• Skilled in crafting and leading sustainability communications targeting guests, media, and investors.
• A strategic thinker who integrates sustainability as a core driver of business success.
• Capable of forging partnerships across company departments and external stakeholders to realize sustainability goals.
• Brings governance experience, establishes measurable KPIs, and ensures accountability throughout the organization.
• Balances mission-driven sustainability initiatives alongside business growth and performance.
