Job description

About the Role

This leadership position involves comprehensive oversight of all product procurement activities. The role requires negotiating programs with manufacturers, leading and developing procurement staff through hiring, training, coaching, and counseling, and driving corporate goals related to vendor bill-backs, inbound freight programs, and marketing program execution. Serving as an integral team member within the department and organization, this role adapts to various duties to advance company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage procurement team members, including staffing decisions, training initiatives, performance management, and resolving workplace challenges.
  • Maintain inventory at optimal levels that support strong financial performance by conducting vendor negotiations to secure advantageous pricing and programs.
  • Dispose of proprietary inventory related to lost customers and manage inventory dollar amounts to enhance cash flow and service levels.
  • Engage effectively with both customers and vendors, addressing inquiries promptly and maintaining established fill rate service standards.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and productivity throughout the purchasing department.
  • Refine purchasing strategies and operations by leveraging in-depth knowledge and ongoing learning in the foodservice distribution sector.
  • Oversee marketing and merchandising functions, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Between 6 to 10 years of experience in procurement or a related field, including supervisory responsibilities.
