Job description

Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a seasoned enterprise leader to define and drive its organization effectiveness agenda at a major inflection point in the company’s growth. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and sitting on the People & Places Leadership Team, this role owns strategy and execution across organization design, organizational transformation, and strategic and operational workforce planning, while also shaping Autodesk’s future-of-work direction.

The role is intended to help modernize Autodesk’s operating model, workforce, and ways of working so the business can scale, execute more effectively, and build capabilities for the future. It calls for sharp judgment, strong executive presence, and the ability to influence senior leadership, including the C-suite, on highly complex, business-critical organizational decisions.

The Vice President will lead a high-impact team of about 12 people and partner closely with People & Places leaders across HR M&A, People Business Partnering, Talent, Culture & Belonging, Total Rewards & Performance Management, and People Insights & Solutions to deliver practical, integrated outcomes for the business.

This opportunity is open to qualified candidates in any location where Autodesk has an office. The role may be performed onsite, remotely, or in a hybrid setup, depending on local policy and business requirements. Occasional travel to the San Francisco Bay Area as well as other U.S. and international locations will be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own Autodesk’s enterprise organization effectiveness agenda, including organization design, transformation, and workforce planning.
  • Contribute to broader people strategy and functional leadership as a member of the People & Places Leadership Team.
  • Guide senior leaders and the C-suite on organizational structure, operating model choices, capability priorities, workforce impact, and ways of working.
  • Convert business strategy into clear organization and workforce plans that improve performance, growth, and long-term value creation.
  • Lead the people and organizational aspects of enterprise transformation efforts, ensuring alignment between business goals, organization design, workforce strategy, and execution.
  • Build and mature an internal consulting capability grounded in organization expertise, data, benchmarking, and pragmatic delivery.
  • Work with key PPL leadership peers to shape Autodesk’s approach to the future of work, including the impact of AI on work, capability building, leadership, and organizational design.
  • Create scalable frameworks, tools, and processes that improve organization effectiveness across the company.
  • Strengthen organization effectiveness skills among People Business Partners and Chiefs of Staff through practical guidance, frameworks, and enablement.
  • Coordinate with teams across People & Places to deliver connected solutions for transformation, integration, and enterprise priorities.
  • Manage prioritization, demand planning, and resource allocation across the function.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master’s degree, or equivalent experience, is preferred in Organization Development, Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • More than 15 years of experience, or equivalent, in organization effectiveness, organizational development, business transformation, organization design, workforce planning, operating model design, and/or human resources.
  • More than 8 years of people leadership experience, including leading senior individual contributors and managers.
  • Substantial experience advising and influencing senior executives, including the C-suite, on complex organizational, workforce, and transformation topics.
  • Proven ability to influence across functions, business units, geographies, and levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated success aligning diverse stakeholders and driving collaboration on difficult organization and workforce issues.
  • Experience leading strategic and operational workforce planning and turning business strategy into workforce decisions.
  • Experience shaping or leading flexible work, future-of-work, and/or operating model evolution in a complex global setting.
  • A strong record of applying an equity, inclusion, and diversity lens to organization and people decisions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with experience using both established and emerging tools and methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An enterprise leader who connects business strategy to organizational capability, operating model choices, workforce plans, and people interventions.
  • Deep expertise in organization design, transformation, workforce planning, and the future of work.
  • A trusted advisor with a proven ability to support high-quality, timely executive decisions.
  • Strong understanding that organization effectiveness is more than structure and also includes how work gets done, how decisions are made, and how capabilities are built.
  • A forward-thinking leader energized by organizational change in the context of rapid technological advancement, including AI.
  • An exceptional collaborator who works well across global, cross-functional, and distributed teams.
  • A strategic yet pragmatic operator who can move from diagnosis to execution with speed and discipline.
