Role Overview
The Vice President of Strategic Finance is a senior, full-time remote position focused on long-range financial planning, performance evaluation, and advising leadership on strategic decisions. The role is responsible for building budgets, forecasts, and financial models that help the organization grow sustainably and make well-informed business choices.
Key Accountabilities
This leader partners with executive stakeholders to assess potential investments, partnerships, and new initiatives, translating financial analysis into practical recommendations. The position also covers regular review of financial statements and management reports, tracking key performance indicators, maintaining strong internal controls, and improving how resources are allocated across the business.
In addition, the VP will guide and develop finance team members, strengthen financial processes and systems, and communicate complex financial information in a way that is clear and actionable for non-finance audiences.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of finance and financial planning, with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic modeling.
- Strong command of financial statements and reporting, including the ability to interpret, prepare, and present accurate reports on time.
- Advanced analytical capability to work through complex datasets, spot meaningful trends, and support evidence-based decisions.
- Proven leadership and people management experience, including directing cross-functional work and shaping decisions with senior stakeholders.
- Substantial experience in a senior finance position, preferably within biotechnology, healthcare, or another innovation-led industry.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial insights to different types of audiences.
- Comfort using modern financial tools and ERP platforms in a remote, data-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar discipline; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree, or a professional credential such as CFA or CPA, is preferred.
