Job description

Overview

Luminous Robotics is revolutionizing the construction of large-scale solar farms by automating the most physically demanding part of the process with our robot, LUMI. Our technology is already active on major solar projects in Australia and the US. Based in Melbourne, we are expanding rapidly to meet the growing demand for solar energy amid labor shortages and rising costs in the industry. Join us to be a foundational member shaping the future of solar installation automation.

Role Summary

As the first dedicated sales leader in Australia, you will develop the local market from scratch—formulating strategy, building pipeline, and leading execution. You'll establish and nurture relationships with EPCs, developers, and asset owners, promoting LUMI’s deployment on sites and converting early pilots into long-term partnerships. Travel will include visits to regional and remote projects across Australia, regular time in the Melbourne office, and occasional trips to the US headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forge strong connections with decision-makers in installation budgets at major EPCs and developers, including construction and project directors, commercial managers, estimating managers, and health & safety leaders.
  • Develop a qualified sales pipeline and convert opportunities into ongoing partnerships on a project-by-project basis.
  • Create compelling commercial cases by benchmarking LUMI against current installation costs, structuring pilot programs and contracts, and collaborating with engineering and operational teams on technical validation and site delivery.
  • Represent Luminous at industry events and stakeholder meetings to drive new business and increase market awareness.
  • Provide feedback from the market to product and engineering teams, sharing customer insights, competitive intelligence, and pricing trends.

Candidate Profile

You are driven by a passion to transform solar construction and relish building something new rather than taking an established role. You thrive working autonomously while partnering with cross-functional teams, and bring excellent judgment combined with deep industry connections.

Essential Qualifications

  • Extensive network within Australian utility-scale solar, familiar with key roles at mechanical installers, EPCs, and developers. Equivalent experience in related sectors such as wind, storage, mining services or construction technology is also valuable.
  • Demonstrated commercial success in developing business cases, structuring deals, and winning complex, long sales cycles within renewable energy, construction, or similar industries.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently, including prospecting and creating sales materials without a large support team, while collaborating closely with engineering and technical teams.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Australia for the role’s duration.

Preferred Skills

  • Deep knowledge of EPC project financials including cost per watt, installation speeds, labor efficiency, and scheduling.
  • Experience selling services, equipment rentals, or per-unit/project solutions to solar construction companies (e.g., labor hire, equipment rental, supply of trackers or inverters, O&M services).
  • Background in automation, robotics, or construction technology.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, particularly Hubspot.

Company Culture and Benefits

  • A workplace that fosters challenging, meaningful, and collaborative work, with authoritative ownership of the Australian market.
  • Salary competitive with experience and uncapped commission with accelerators for exceeding targets.
  • Equity participation offering a stake in a fast-growing company.
  • Flexible paid time off, encouraging ample rest and life balance.
  • Superannuation contributions at 12% on top of base salary.
