Role overview
The Vice President of Sales will own the commercial strategy for the organization, with a focus on accelerating revenue, improving profitability, and expanding market presence in the food and beverage sector. As part of the executive team, this leader will guide nationwide sales efforts, oversee important customer relationships, and build a strong sales function capable of delivering sustained growth.
This position requires close partnership with Marketing, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and senior leadership to align go-to-market execution with the company’s long-term business goals.
Key responsibilities
- Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team.
- Set sales targets, define performance measures, and ensure accountability across the organization.
- Attract, hire, and retain strong commercial talent.
- Create a team culture centered on collaboration, execution, and customer commitment.
- Design and implement sales plans that support revenue and profitability objectives.
- Spot new market opportunities, customer segments, and distribution routes.
- Lead annual sales planning, forecasting, and business review processes.
- Develop strategic partnerships with major customers, distributors, and brokers.
- Take ownership of sales performance, gross margin, and overall profitability.
- Track forecasts, pipeline health, and key commercial metrics.
- Review market trends, customer performance, and competitor activity to guide decisions.
- Work with Finance on budgeting and revenue planning.
- Maintain strong relationships with retail, food service, and distribution partners.
- Negotiate customer agreements and growth-focused initiatives.
- Create joint business plans that deepen customer partnerships.
- Represent the company in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
- Align with Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain on commercial priorities.
- Support product launches, promotions, and customer-specific initiatives.
- Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Experience and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 10 years of sales leadership experience in food and beverage or consumer packaged goods.
- A demonstrated history of growing revenue and leading successful sales teams.
- Experience handling national accounts, distributors, brokers, and multi-channel sales structures.
- Strong capability in strategic planning, forecasting, negotiation, and leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build durable business relationships.
Preferred background
- Experience working with large retail, grocery, club, convenience, or food service customers.
- A well-established network in the food and beverage industry.
- Prior leadership experience in a fast-growing business environment.
Compensation and benefits
The role offers a base salary of $220,000 to $260,000, plus the potential for an annual bonus, with flexibility depending on experience.
