Job description
About the Company
We are developing an AI-driven accounting platform tailored for small to mid-sized businesses, integrating bookkeeping, payroll, tax, billing, and advisory services into one seamless system. Our early-stage, rapidly-expanding team aims to democratize access to accounting expertise by eliminating traditional back office overheads.
Role Overview
As our Vice President of Operations, you will be responsible for establishing and scaling the foundational operational systems crucial for growth. This pivotal leadership role demands ownership across functions—from designing internal procedures to managing client service delivery—and acts as a bridge connecting product development, sales, finance, and client-facing teams. The role supports remote work with approximately 25% travel to company offices, client locations, and team gatherings.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft and oversee the operational framework essential to scaling a fast-growing accounting and fintech platform
- Develop and govern processes across client onboarding, service fulfillment, vendor coordination, and internal tool utilization
- Collaborate closely with the executive team to convert corporate strategy into actionable operational plans, key performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms
- Detect inefficiencies within existing workflows and spearhead initiatives to optimize processes across multiple departments
- Manage daily operations of a dispersed, remote-first workforce, maintaining consistency and high quality amid increasing headcount
- Handle budgeting, resource allocation, and operational reporting for executives and investors
- Travel periodically (~25%) to engage with clients, partners, team members, and to represent the firm at offsite events and industry conferences
- Build and lead the operations team by recruiting, mentoring, and managing personnel as the company grows
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of seven years in progressively senior operations leadership roles, preferably within startups, fintech, or professional services sectors
- Proven experience in establishing operational procedures and teams from inception
- Strong analytical ability with proficiency in leveraging data for decision-making and outcome measurement
- Demonstrated success collaborating across product, engineering, sales, and finance departments
- Exceptional communication capabilities; adept at navigating a fast-paced, remote-first environment
- Willingness and capacity to undertake approximately 25% travel
- Previous exposure to accounting, tax, fintech, or B2B software-as-a-service businesses is highly advantageous
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary (details available upon inquiry)
- Equity participation opportunity
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
- Generous flexible paid time off policy
- Supportive remote-first work culture with required periodic travel
