Job description
Role Overview
This leadership position is based in New York City on a hybrid schedule, with the option for candidates on the East Coast who can travel to the NYC office weekly. The role reports to the President and sits within the Marketing department as a full-time, exempt position.
The company is looking for a strategic and energetic marketing executive who can build a strong team, shape the brand direction, and turn strategy into action. This is a chance to help grow an innovative beauty brand that is grounded in community and purpose, with the goal of reshaping the industry in a meaningful way.
As Vice President of Marketing, you will guide the brand vision and design the community experience. You will help create the strategy from the ground up, define the voice of the brand, and shape how the community engages with it. The role covers creative direction, brand strategy, and social and earned media channels, with a focus on programs that connect with Gen Z and broader audiences.
About the Brand
The brand is community-led and built on the belief that real influence comes from authenticity and genuine connection rather than algorithms or follower counts. Its mission is to create a space where women support one another, share their experiences, and help redefine modern beauty standards.
Its clean, high-performance products support that mission, but the community remains the center of everything. The company values honesty over hype and connection over comparison, aiming to build a movement that reclaims beauty as something people shape together from the inside out.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a strong brand marketing strategy that keeps community at the center and positions the company as a trusted voice in clean beauty.
- Maintain consistency in the brand’s presence across every channel and customer touchpoint.
- Work with the Founder and CEO to shape brand storytelling that reaches varied audiences and builds emotional connection.
- Track market trends and cultural changes, then use those insights to refine storytelling and engagement plans.
- Strengthen brand awareness, generate demand, and support long-term customer loyalty.
- Manage press and communications strategy along with consumer-facing channels such as social media, owned media, influencer partnerships, and gifting programs, ensuring alignment with business and brand goals.
- Lead go-to-market planning for launches and campaigns, making sure every milestone is delivered on time.
- Set the vision for community goals and weave those goals into all brand and GTM plans.
- Promote authentic community participation and make sure it is reflected in every initiative.
- Recruit, guide, and develop a high-performing marketing team across brand and creative functions.
- Create a team environment that supports creativity, speed, and data-backed decision-making.
- Define clear goals and KPIs tied to business priorities and commercial strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Product, Digital, and Operations teams to execute cohesive marketing plans.
- Use customer insights, competitive analysis, and data-led methods to improve initiatives.
- Ensure integrated positioning and messaging across all GTM activity.
- Manage and optimize the brand marketing budget to drive strong ROI.
- Set performance metrics, measure outcomes, and use analytics to improve marketing effectiveness over time.
Experience and Qualifications
- More than 10 years of experience in marketing, brand management, and social or influencer strategy.
- Background in fast-moving, digital-first organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale teams successfully.
- Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell compelling stories across formats.
- Experience with mission-driven, community-led brands is considered a strong advantage.
Working Style
- Should be a systems-oriented leader who can design programs that scale efficiently.
- Needs to be both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to lead while also working through details.
- Should be analytical and comfortable turning data and feedback into practical action.
- Must be empathetic, culturally aware, and deeply engaged with community-led brand building.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, exempt role with an on-site presence centered on New York City and a hybrid setup. Candidates based on the East Coast may also be considered if they are able to travel to the NYC office weekly.
