Patch is dedicated to balancing environmental impact by simplifying access to and trust in environmental commodities globally. Handling hundreds of millions in transactions across carbon, sustainable aviation fuel, renewable energy, and renewable natural gas markets, Patch operates across roughly ten currencies. The finance team here integrates directly with the product rather than acting as a back-office function.

As an AI-native services company, Patch supports enterprise clients through embedded climate strategists empowered by a productivity platform that generates structured data to accelerate market entry and customer engagements. With $85M raised and offices in San Francisco, London, and Singapore, the company is embarking on new initiatives including a private credit and debt facility, acquisitions of complementary services and data firms, and a forthcoming equity raise.

Role Overview

In the Vice President of Finance role, you will oversee the entire finance and legal functions and work closely with the CEO & Founder. Responsibilities span FP&A, treasury, cash and foreign exchange management, revenue recognition, audit and internal controls across multiple entities and currencies. You will manage legal and regulatory compliance across US, UK, and EU jurisdictions, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, and outside counsel relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all financial operations including planning, treasury, cash flow, FX, revenue recognition, monthly close, audit, and controls across multiple entities and currencies.
• Lead legal and regulatory compliance: oversee commercial contracting, corporate governance, entity management, and regulatory compliance in environmental commodity markets; manage relationships with outside legal counsel and assess need for in-house legal resources.
• Drive mergers and acquisitions process from sourcing through due diligence, deal structuring, and integration of services and data companies.
• Serve as primary financial liaison with the board, developing board materials and leading audit and compensation discussions.

Success Milestones

• Within the first 90 days: Establish trusted monthly financial reporting, own the financial close process, and understand unit economics by market and revenue type; identify key vulnerabilities in financial operations heading into the next growth phase.
• Within 6-12 months: Successfully close a debt facility, lead an equity capital raise from start to finish, and complete at least one acquisition including integration; be the board's direct point of contact for finance-related inquiries.

Qualifications

• Investment banking background with 3-7 years experience, preferably in M&A or leveraged finance; proficient in building and defending complex financial models from scratch.
• Extensive operational experience (7-10 years) in venture-backed firms between Series A and Series C, understanding finance transformation from manual spreadsheets to system-enabled controls appropriate to company stage.
• Proven track record of raising both equity and debt financing; experience with private credit, asset-backed, or working capital facilities is highly valued.
• Comfort managing legal affairs including corporate governance, commercial contracting, and outside counsel coordination without reliance on a dedicated General Counsel.
• Passion for climate impact, commodities trading, trade finance, environmental markets, or energy transition sectors, with enthusiasm for this specialized and technical subject matter.
• Fluency and routine use of AI tools for analysis, diligence, and drafting, enabling efficient and AI-native financial workflows.

Compensation

The role offers a total compensation range of $250,000 to $400,000 annually.
